Mahler: good second!

Unwittingly it, looking at the first page of the famous Adagietto , you immediately notice a significant difference at all between the original idea and subsequent review by the author. Here:

Apart division of violets not originally scheduled, you will notice as the second section of the ground conductor (straddling the lines 3-4) was almost imperceptibly, but significantly affected by Mahler, compared to the first draft: the penultimate quaver of size 3, an original SOL, which did grow monotonously melody (FA-SOL-LA) eventually becomes a Bb, thus introducing immediately a ripple expression, which comes immediately after recovery (already in the original) from the restatement of the reason the cellos. The first form - at half speed (crotchets instead of quavers) - remains in place in the second half of the ground in the second violins (Measure 73 and later).

Small details perhaps, but telling us the authentic suffering by which a composer like Mahler lived his creatures.
