Orange Decoration Clip Art

Stagione dell’OrchestraVerdi - 26

The year of Mahler, and the cycle continues with the Fifth Symphony, conducted by Xian Zhang and worthily introduced as part of the meritorious series of lectures on the symphonies of Bohemia, on the one Maurizio Corbella intervention, an eclectic musician-musicologist-composer-actor-and-other-again.

But as a prologue we have a very little piece done, and not only because it came to light in 1989 (the fall of the wall however, has nothing to do ...) This is Rendering , opera Luciano Berio that revenue from sketches Schubert for what could be his tenth symphony in D major. Many of us have in mind the reason for the 'Allegro final years to be used as a symbol of a container of Radio3 :

Here a record of Eschenbach. This (supposed) symphony was also completed by Brian Newbould , who has dedicated his life to rebuilding works by Schubert from sketches and drafts. Here his version direct from Marriner.

In short, has not completed or rebuilt, but has just brought to light what Schubert has left us, not only making audible the original parts, but also clearly showing the gaps that the now almost dead composer did not have time to fill. In short, an approach to turn more than a little narcissistic, if you will, but at least original. (I personally find it intolerable to the reconstruction Newbould .)

It is widely noted that the atmosphere has a flavor dell'Andante Mahler and Schubert from the Bohemian certainly taken many cues. But to me affects the second theme of the initial Allegro in LA, which looks like a bud which will bloom almost 30 years after the spring Winterstürme :

(Wagner Certainly nothing could have known of the sketch Schubert, but the similarity jumps ear, even in harmonization.)

delicate and measured the interpretation of Zhang , which traces its emergence Schubert by a kind of mist Berian .

Here then Fifth of Mahler, performed well last season (with Damian). Yesterday it seemed to come out strengthened from the hands of Zhang . That obviously is leaving more and more precise mark on the orchestra its interpretation. The Scherzo el ' Adagietto (very slow, but never mushy), I am seemed on the edge of excellence, but the entire symphony has come out beautifully, in ensembles and in solo parts, the trumpet of Caruana and Ceccarelli horn on his head at all. In short, the execution of those that really leave you something in it.

Coming romance still Mature and late ....

Death in Venice, Life (?) in Scala

Death in Venice (yesterday its second positive after a first spun off as smooth, to judge by listening to Radio 3) is the quintessence of musical theater that never, never could and could not justify the existence of gallery (deadline to be considered in the anthropological sense and do not register; the type curves football stadium, so to speak).

Not even the wildest imagination could imagine the emergence - on the subject: how to interpret Britten? - factions of supporters and relatives of those even remotely fierce and snarling that have until recently tackled on the pavement in front of the Piermarini. Can you imagine a debate between those who praise the purity of the declamation of ' Aschenbach on duty (16 or 18 or 34 notes ... no indication of length) and who complained that the director did not reveal with the fullness of aesthetic putridity channel of Venice? The relief in fact given by newspapers, websites and blogs is that, in sport, reserved to a horse show (maybe with commentary by Albert Joy , riding-cap on his head, at the time) or a polo match ( smile! ) Yet it is an absolute debut at La Scala opera ...

Where the public (last occupant no more than 75% of places available, and what surely must say something ... ) has been listening in silence, applauded only after the officer opened the lights switch the electricity of the theater - otherwise how do you know if the act è finito?

These results bring the progress. Oh yes, because listening to the infamous Tosca, anyone who can not nestle in the head at least three vulgar agreements that open the work, and then reconnect them to the vulgar Scarpia, because every time I return regularly sbifido Sicilian hovers nearby. And never mind if one ignores the fact that extreme between the notes of these three agreements is the distance of diabolus ... With Britten's Death in Venice it is a bit more difficult. Because even here there is - to say, and is just one example - a leitmotif main (if you can call it) work, but deciphering non è propriamente facile, meno ancora riscoprirlo nel seguito, per collegarlo ad eventi, stati d'animo e così via.

The sing along RE-DO-RE-MI # :

Who Aschenbach, after trying to ignore the stranger, instead falling prey dell'irresistibile desire ( sudden desire for the unknown ) who would like to keep hidden from the public (who must ignore the inspiration of the artist ) but that shines mercilessly by his own hand, precisely borrowed from that of the traveler, RE-DO-RE-MI # :

(Just to complicate things, recited above can be cut - Britten willing - and is cut in this production). The theme actually has something mysterious, is not at all reassuring. In fact, the wonder and the unknown soon manifest themselves for something very wonderful and very sadly little known: the cholera ! It is the music - just search with patience - to explain it clearly, through the tube, which sets the theme ( DO-RE-MI-Eb ) at the beginning of the second act, after the barber has missed the truth; and soon after by the horns, which rise to a major third (F #-G #-MI-SOL) and after a minor third (MIB-FA-SOL-FA #) on the questions of puzzled Aschenbach:

And yet listened to the words on the theme that Aschenbach, wandering around Venice, Act Tagblatt , RE-DO-RE-MI # :

Cases of cholera ! And poor writer, who sees the epidemic as a possible threat to its proximity to the adolescent Tadzio (or, alternatively, is hoping that dry face everyone, except himself and his love ) you want to convince the auto-reverse, singing Ugh! rumors, rumors, rumors ... but right on the notes (transposed) of our theme: first LA-SOL-SI-Bb and then (slightly changed) DO-SI-RE-Db! Final confirmation comes from the accompaniment of low concern and the concern that the epidemic report by the employee of the travel agency, still RE-DO-RE-MI # :

But all this is nothing yet, as we should in the meantime had discovered that the true disease is one that lurks in 'deep I of Aschenbach, and is far more insidious (and just as deadly) epidemic. That's why the theme appears subtly in other circumstances, for example towards the end of the first act, after the writer has given up, helpless, to approach Tadzio and reflects on the fatal desire : So longing passes back and forth Between life and the mind. Different heights (LA-SOL-SI-LA #) points out the reason (in horns, harp and viola) own words life and mind, reality and the spirit, the two polarities (Dionysus-Apollo) including struggles' s I of Aschenbach. And then we hear him again, the same tools, but a semitone lower, while Tadzio passes close to the writer dazed and smiling (!) Finally stripping of all its Apollonian (and hypocritical?) Defenses and throwing it into meal to Dionysus. The issue comes back to bite, just changed at the beginning of the second part, the accompaniment of the piano, when the protagonist notes and rationally / aesthetically tries to justify to himself that his I love you in the last bars of the first part was addressed to Tadzio. Then again, in the tubes during the Dionysian orgy dream, and always in the tube at the time when the adolescent polacchino soccombe al rude coetaneo Jaschiu nella zuffa sul bagnasciuga che precede l'epilogo.

Aggiungiamo poi che parecchi interrogativi e lati oscuri dell'opera si possono chiarire solo dopo aver letto la novella di Thomas Mann which inspired Britten-Piper, for example, that homosexual pedophiles implications of the affair - although they are so dear to the composer (as the Supreme Luchino ) and employed by theatrical marketing to excite the morbid curiosity of the viewer towards a Final sex tourism - are only one, and perhaps even the most important components of the drama, and that the fund Death in Venice - as Der Tod in Venedig - instead there is a bit of trouble nothing, philosophical and aesthetic-existential, as old as the world.

Considerations for anything new, these means, and in a much more structured product and the theater program, but one should look good for the first to go to the theater instead of scroll quickly in 5 minutes prior to the street, or in the 10 range .

About hall programs, the occasion is distributed to 70% plagiarized - courtesy - from what was commendably produced in 2008 - and is available in web - the Fenice in Venice . Included with the translation of the libretto Renato Pontiggia , but without the valuable exegesis of Daniel Carnini (a pag.41 del citato programma) che qui viene indicato, come revisore del testo, con il nome di Davide Carnivi (ma è solo un imperdonabile errore di stompa , o c'è dietro qualcos'altro?)

___
Personally I feel instead of criticizing the excessive caricature of Aschenbach, presented from the outset not only as an individual plagued by doubts and vague fears of an intellectual nature of the crisis of artistic inspiration, but also as a character in a state of permanent crisis epileptic, always suspicious, surly and at war with everyone and everything. In other words, is so lacking that dramatic crescendo that characterizes the path of the writer towards the 'abyss .

John Graham-Hall (except the aforementioned questionable characterization and actor) showed very well the role of master on the voice: clear and effective expression and depth of sound. On the contrary (it seemed) Peter Coleman-Wright , excellent in offering the seven roles - and diverse - in which it is committed, but a bit 'less vocal on the floor, where he struggled to penetrate the spacious Piermarini. Better than he did the Apollo Iestyn Davies. Among the other performers minor cite Jonathan Gunthorpe, effective use of the travel and Anna Dennis, the woman selling fruit. From the chorus of praise unconditionally Casoni, which is called here, as well as to sing, too to give body and face different humanity that circulates in the hotel and town.

Edward Gardner must be one that knows how to manage an orchestra, judging by the applause arrivatigli the theater, but even more by hole!

Sudden Onset Dizziness Nausea

Stagione dell’OrchestraVerdi - 25

Great concert with Xian Zhang , which engages with a late-Romantic program.

Orchestra hypertrophic (except for Ciajkovski) with the double basses lined up in the bottom line, in front of and behind the drums and horns.

The appetizer is the English Capriccio of Rimsky , a classical piece suitable to break the ice and put the audience in a good mood. The Russian composer based it on a collection of English folk music, Ecos de España (hence the title proper Capriccio on English Themes ) of Inzenga y José Castellanos . L ' Alborada, which is present twice (1st and 3rd song) in different keys (LA and Bb) is from a song of shepherds greet the morning. The changes (2nd song) come first dall'asturiana Dance (danza serale).

Invitation to sdolcinature, they did write to Hanslick of music that stinks (and more recently have been making music that invites you to drink ) the beautiful Arabella, and Zhang with her, we propose a Ciajkovski with a scent of air fresh, dry and nervous. Great victory for the violinist Kraut-Japan, which also gives us an encore (Ysaye?)

It closes with the Zarathustra and his mistreated too (outside the walls, not here, performed in so excellent) introduction of the Astra nascent horns, the symbol of Nature . A listener naïve (we all we have been at least once) one imagines that it is not blazing start, in fact, just the beginning, and that his brilliance should go back, necessarily, and even magnified, during and especially at the end of the song. Oh no, here we are in the philosophy and the beginning is not really a bright dawn which necessarily followed by a sunset, not even the brightest dawn ... word Nietzsche (who also did not invent anything, but maybe he thought interpret Anaximander of Miletus ). Of course, in the central episode of the convalescent the theme is repeated, but almost with arrogance and even irritating, with the brass (2 tube included) in a heavy fff . Then come back - and finally at the very end - almost as un'impersonificazione 's apeiron .

long way in Man no room for religion, and will not be a coincidence that - just in the initial Von den Hinterweltlern (the inhabitants of the transcendent world) - Strauss we stick a couple of references liturgical I and Magnificat:
The work closes with a sort of tug of war - where, however, attention, the two opposing shaking hands with supreme force - including agreements in the key of e di DO (quanta simbologia si portano dietro, e quanta musicale e filosofica distanza):

In a concert hall (perhaps not the case with headphones listening to a CD), these notes, in triple p , you risk losing them altogether if you do not know a priori that there are. Anyway, our ear very hard to distinguish, in the grave, a C from an SI: and who knows if it was not exactly what we wanted ... Strauss

Convincing in every aspect of the approach Xian Zhang supported by a truly remarkable performance of the orchestra (performance unfortunately disfigured by a pair of defaillances the trumpet in the second part of the convalescent , one that leads to Tanzlied : cose che capitano, evidentemente) che le ha meritato un grande successo.

is the revival of Russian production of 1974 (which was practically the revival of the Work in the USSR after the oblivion in which it was dropped). In the story of Gogol and assume you can search many different meanings, ranging from political and sociological than Freudian and sexual abuse. In short, there ought to be ample space not only for brainy, but perhaps also interesting inventions from Regietheater ... instead Boris Pokrovsky was held down to earth, but merely to present more or less faithfully, what we find written in booklet.

The which refers generically to the original story , also introduce a small or large variations, such as the prologue to the initial smoothing Kovalev, the restoration of the Cathedral scene Kazansky (at instead of department stores, which Gogol was practically forced to withdraw for reasons of censorship) and especially the new and long scene (the seventh, before the third act) captures the lively nose - episode in the story of Gogol is (literally ) shrouded in fog and nothing is described in detail - for which they were used for footage of other works of the writer. Finally, in closed, just before the last externalization of Kovalev, Pokrovsky part of its initiative a series of jokes recited by different actors and borrowed almost verbatim from the last paragraph of the story of Gogol, where the writer presents a surreal sort of justification of surreal events just narrated.

The stage is bare and the curtain is always open: the ends of the costumes of various characters, hanging from hooks on the bottom of a platform with railings serve as a curtain. Primitive objects (boxes, tables, chairs, mattresses) are lifted and removed from time to time to support the action, and exploiting the time the various interludes (presumably originally planned to coincide with its scene changes) to percussion, including the promenade and the awakening of Iakovlevich Kovalev, the galop describing the release of Kovalev on Nevsky Prospekt, the scene between the newspaper and the scene at the home of Kovalev (where Ivan plays the balalaika ). In some cases, it also exploits the audience - which emerge from the sides of some characters that go up on stage - and a stage from which a police officer responds to requests for Kovalev. Theatre also the entrance to the third act of Maestro Vladimir Agronskij after the interval: comes from the bottom of the pit, along the entire central corridor and down the podium greeted by two officers of tsarist, which closes his door behind him.

Entertainment flowing really without a breather. Ben made the quartet of letters (Kovalev-Jariskin / Podtotchina-daughter) through the clever use of lights. In short, a pleasant and traditional production, which deserves congratulations for the whole company, the Moscow Chamber Music Theatre , founded by his Boris Pokrovsky (who died at 97 in 2009).

Also on a musical level, a positive note: the small orchestra, made in solo practice (within the doubling of instruments, and only in the strings) and interpreters (the company has submitted, and in Parma in Reggio, two different cast , alternating each week). Shostakovich requires mainly a song estranged, as are basically all the characters of the story that seem to always play the grotesque parody of themselves.

The public (it had no employment was 60% of the seats of the theater, alas) has been shown to accept, rewarding the company of warm applause.

What is certain is that, face works like this, you will be hard to create factions and supporters of music lovers, as with any Tosca ( smile! )

Iron & Rust presents a meticulous and advanced, with the oldest material at the same time most useful of all time: iron. Treated in a surprising way, on paper, with precise control of rust, to create a veneer of impressive achievements. Controlled or left free to evolve over time without the possibility of limiting the development with heat, as happens on the sheet, but through processes and techniques originated from the challenge material, with the intent to make the public aware of any work produced at the maximum potential of the material. How does the curator Laura
Cup "The Art of Sassanelli is a cerebral game. It is a slow slide film, a photo is printed on paper unearthed ossidata.Un story that leaves her lips stretched into a smile, with a shadow of bitterness perceived only licked. An art like a seed planted by the world and nurtured by the gray matter. Sassanelli enhances the development of every shape and color that is given in its raw essence never mix until it merges into a new conceptual , where color is mellow and light, liquid form is elusive. What is a face, a mouth or face, the artist removes the potential for detail and the stitches to support elevating it to art work. Antonella Sassanelli is an artist with big eyes. Eyes that pierce the blanket that can erase the edges and turn the tone to observe and averred. Reality that fertilizes the wisdom, knowledge and living memory, is the cradle in the bowels and is born as an art. "

George Prêtre con la Filarmonica

Last night the venerable George Prêtre - will make the 87 springs in mid-August - is back to direct Philharmonic in a concert Cesar Franck juxtaposed with Ottorino Respighi . On this occasion he was awarded the title of honorary member of the Association, having been among the first to conduct the orchestra after his birth, back in 1982.

the Belgian composer has been carried out (relatively) famous Symphony in D minor . That is 1886-88, then the same age, just to name a few in the symphonic field, the Fifth of Ciajkovski, 's Dvorak's Eighth, the Third (the one with the body) and Saint-Saens Before the Mahler. Then, in the world of music program, Aus Italien of Strauss, Sheherazade by Rimsky. And even the Fauré's Requiem. But the opening words of the symphony comes directly from Walküre (Act II, Scene IV):

Then, still in the first movement, there are more or less clear signs of Tristan , demonstrating that the revolution had truly Wagnerian music infected the entire planet. As for the cyclical form, with the themes of the first two movements that come back, changed, last, was not new, but rather a real fashion (in the positive sense) of the time, as evidenced widely the works of contemporary and Ciajkovski Mahler.

The structure of the first time (very long, nearly 20 ') is freely interpreted sonata form: the opening theme in D minor comes in time Slow , then restated in Allegro not too . Then the process (Lento-Allegro) is repeated, but the key to raising F minor. Now Frank has a new theme, in F major , resulting in the famous peroration:

follows a complex development, again D minor and F major (where exactly can hear vague echoes tristaniane), contrasting the two issues, and that leads to a spurious recovery: the first theme is presented in Slow FA and lower by trombones and tuba, then Allegro by the strings in Eb minor . One more digression of the first theme in G minor , then enter the second in D major . We return to D minor by the tail, but the conclusion is quite unpredictable, with the initial cell of the first subject exposed in G minor , three times, imperiously to lead in the final D major , Accented by the F #.

Prêtre gives a reading of their severe, and those dark times kept to a German sound that many have criticized the appearance of the work.

L ' Allegretto - here Prêtre places the wand on the laws of shoulder and head with his bare hands - principles Bb minor, with the delicate issue of the English horn:
followed by another long melody in Bb major, first the return of the English horn, to a lesser, with the first theme. Here then moved an interlude, in which string and wind are exchanged fragments of the theme, but then suddenly emerge - excellent here in Prêtre Out - a new theme by clarinets, Eb major, full of chromaticism:

theme taken up and widely developed by the strings. Back to the first issue, even in the English horn, first in G minor , then again in Bb minor, as in the beginning, then mixed again with the second, closed to Bb major.

English horn of the protagonists here Duke Renato, well backed by the horn Roberto Honey: the first will, eventually, to be called by Prêtre for applause individual.

Master risfodera wand to attack by his par on the third and final (!) Movement, which opens with a theme to say the least, unrealistic, exposed by bassoons and cellos in D major on decided tremolo strings, after 5 dry winds of agreements:
theme that serves as scaffolding to this kind of sonata form, followed dal secondo, più dolce cantabile , in SI maggiore, esposto dalle trombe, con accompagnamento delle cornette e di tromboni e tuba:

Ripreso poi dagli altri strumenti, fino all'ingresso, in SI minore , del tema dell'Allegretto, esposto dal corno inglese e dai legni, cui subentra ancora il dolce cantabile , ora però più pesante, in tutta l'orchestra.

Si ricapitolano i temi principali, con modulazioni in diverse tonalità (LAb, SOL). Ancora il tema dell' Allegretto fa in minor head nell'oboe, then the main theme of the final re-emerging in D major , but that of ' Allegretto - always minor - explodes arrogant. We are truly a giant put-pourri where everything is just Wagner, summarized: back, Bb, the second theme of the first movement, then also the first to the counterpoint.

Finally it suggests the theme of the final leading to the conclusion, which reiterates here so well prepared, not improvised, the epilogue of the first movement, with a lot of F # to stand out in the positive agreement of D major.

Applause intense, but maybe not so crazy for this symphony, which obviously is still struggling to make his way in the consideration of pubbblico.

After the break (with a curtain of treasure hunt on the stage: some part missing?) Respighi here we are, with the first two of the three Roman tone poems , compounds over the years, between 1916 and 1928. First Fountains of Rome, which now appears in the second violins - to introduce the theme in the oboes debussy - a vague recollection Mahler:

are the first bars of Einsame Der im Herbst , set, incidentally, near a pond, where you can hear the slow splashing, which refers the soft drip of the fountain of Valle Giulia. Following two sections move with the patch of sunlight that floods the Triton in the early morning, and then the phantasmagoria of the Trevi fountains and waterfalls. It ends with the sunset of the Villa Medici, languid as the mirror of the circular water fountain, and punctuated by the tolling (as many as 29!) Of the bell.

Prêtre, who directed still no stick, just in time to drop the arms, which suffered some applause from the gallery part: it is almost caught him, then turns his head only to the first rows of the house ... finally does pick up the package of wood, for gratify the just recognition, before turning to pick up the applause, now roaring, around the theater.

then resumed his wand to close with Pines of Rome. Introduced by the English horn and bassoon, with the punctuation of horns that sing - to Villa Borghese - the folk Oh how beautiful daughters Madame Dore :

It is not the only rhyme that appears in this picture opening, shortly after here is in fact a couple of turning-circle, first introduced by the strings and woodwinds in the canon, the second from the oboes and clarinets:

that is repeated several times until it flows into the gloomy passage at Catacombs, with its crooked performance on 5 / 4, full of repeated notes.

In Pini del Gianicolo , at the very end (last 10 bars and a half) is expected to sing a real nightingale : no, not in a cage and feathers and bones, plus it would also accompany the trainer to give him the right ... In the score attack is seen as a tape recording (at the time the mp3 could be at most of the muskets) complete with product code, for those who want to buy a copy:

Often it mimics some bait quail, more than a nightingale ( smile! ) as here at 6 ': 39 ".

In concluding The Pines of the Appian Way, after a long solo English horn, appear six conches, especially unicorns huge marches that accompanied the Roman legions. Respighi - which also will feature three Roman Festivals - requires the score of flugelhorns (2 sopranos, 2 tenors and 2 basses), here replaced by two trumpets, two trombones and two tubes. The pounding rhythm of drums and bass drum, they are bringing all'enfatico epilogue of the work.

Great triumph for teachers and professors. From the gallery to the podium rain tulips in quantity (one centered in the middle of the ringleaders of the director!) That gives us a reception to thank his classic a : Entr'Acte et Barcarolle Les Contes d'Hoffmann by . And no one better than he knows how to offer it to touch the most sensitive strings of the listener!
